“America’s golden age is just beginning,” Trump said in his inaugural address. He vowed to immediately end “the vicious, violent and unfair weaponization of our Justice Department” and deal with the “radical and corrupt establishment.”

Trump said he has been “tested and challenged more than any president in our 250-year history.” He received a standing ovation when, referring to the attempt on his life in Butler, PA, “An assassin’s bullet went through my ear.”

He said, “I felt then, and I believe even more now, that my life was saved for a reason.” “God saved me to make America great again.”

Trump outlined steps he would take as president and vowed to send troops to the southern border to “repel this devastating invasion of our country.” He also promised to eliminate the presence of “foreign gangs and criminal networks” under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

He promised to increase tariffs, which he said would bring “an enormous amount of money into our treasury.”

He also promised to sign an executive order to “immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America.”

Trump also said he would make it America’s policy that “there are only two genders – male and female.”

He said he would rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of the Americas” and change the nation’s highest peak from Denali back to Mount McKinley.

Trump also said he would withdraw the Panama Canal, saying that handing it over to Panama was “a stupid gift that should never have been given” and that China was operating it.

“We didn’t give it to China,” he said. “We gave it to Panama, and we’re taking it back.”

At the beginning of the speech, he referred to the Los Angeles fires, saying that they had “affected some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in our country.”

“They have no home now,” he said. “That’s interesting. We can’t let that happen. Everyone’s not doing anything about it. This is going to change.”

First Lady Melania Trump and her children were present with Trump while taking the oath. At the conclusion, he shook hands with outgoing President Joe Biden and others on stage.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan and the Rev. Franklin Graham delivered invocations before the ceremony. To the applause of the crowd, Graham said, “Look what God has done,” and then pointed to the assassination attempt. “Father, when Donald Trump’s enemies thought he was down and out, you and you alone saved his life and lifted him up with strength and power with your mighty hand.”

Senator Amy Klobuchar, the Democratic chair of the inaugural committee, paid tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. and democracy for organizing the ceremony in an orderly manner. He also quoted Bob Dylan, saying, “It is important to ensure that our country’s democracy is our shelter from the storm.”

Earlier in the day, outgoing Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcomed Trump and his wife to the White House.

“Welcome home,” Biden said.

Biden issued a wave of forgiveness His final hours in office included granting pardons to members of the January 6 committee that investigated Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Biden also pardoned Dr. Anthony Fauci.
