Timothée Chalamet doesn’t get time off during awards season.
The ‘Dune’ and ‘A Complete Unknown’ star dedicated part of hisSaturday night LiveMonologue to lament the fact that he keeps losing at major awards shows.
“It is a huge honor to go to these awards shows. “It’s a great experience,” Chalamet said. “But I keep losing. And every time, it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t hurt.” What followed was a montage of Chalamet’s disappointed faces at past Golden Globes and Academy Awards ceremonies.
Chalamet’s appearance on the show comes less than a week after He received an Academy Award nomination Best Actor Award for his role as music icon Bob Dylan in the biopic “A Complete Unknown”. This is the second Oscar award of Chalamet’s career, as he was previously nominated in the same category for the film “Call Me by Your Name”.
Chalamet then admitted that he had a winner’s speech prepared but never got the chance to use it. So he asked the audience to include him and he passed a small envelope to a man sitting in the front row, with Chalamet eager to come on stage and give his speech. But when the man read the name of the winner from the envelope, it turned out to be Kenan Thompson.
As Thompson accepted the Oscar, she said, “To my fellow nominees, you have done a great job this year. Anyway, I love Bob Dylan. This one’s for you, Bob!” When Chalamet asked Thompson if he could at least open the show, Thompson replied, “Oh, yeah, go on. Little bitch.”
Bob Dylan was mentioned repeatedly in the monologue, with Chalamet comparing Dylan to Willy Wonka, whom Chalamet also played. “They’re both crazy. They’re both innovators, and they both captured and enslaved hundreds of Oompa Loompas.
As previously announced, Chalamet is pulling double duty on “SNL,” serving as the musical guest in addition to hosting the Jan. 25 episode. Although this is his first time as musical guest, Chalamet has hosted the long-running NBC sketch series twice before.
