In collaboration with Bentanville Film Foundation, Founding Partner, Walmart and Presenting Sponsor, Coca-Cola, announced its 11th annual winners Bentonville Film Festival On Saturday.
,Rosemead“Starred Lucy LiuWinning the Best Story Award for a feature film, took the top award. In addition, Liu was presented with The Rising to the Challenge Award, who was given to the actors who support the independent film and “put on the line in the service of stories that empower their talent, passion and experience which are otherwise underpared”. Directed by Eric Lynn, “Rosemade” was a premiere at the Tribka Film Festival earlier this month and an impossible option was faced on a mother. The film has received excellent reviews, especially for Liu’s transformational performance. In a statement, Jury, who voted on the award, said: “Director Eric Lynn sparks a real -world conversation about society living through an intimate, ineffective film based on true incidents in San Gabriel Valley. What a great cinema can do.”
Other story awards presented included a special jury mention for the artists troop for “adult children”, which held its World Premier at the festival on Thursday night. Written by Annika Marx and directed by Rich Cay, three adult siblings (Betsi Brant, Thomas Sadoski and Aya Cash) and her teenage step sister (Ella Rubin) comedy-drama center, who walk together to see their brother Josh (Sadoski), a drug. The film also featured Mimi Rogers as a young neighbor of his mother and Olemich Tugas (in his film debut). Marx and Navy first collaborated on the film “Killing Ellenor”, which won the top award at the 2020 SCAD Savana Film Festival. The film balanced some serious themes with dark humor and humanity on performance in “adult children”.
A special jury mention for the directorial vision was presented for the “Color Book”, the writer-director David Fortune’s story of a new widow father of Fortune was trying to bring his son into a baseball game. The jury’s statement praised, “The film detects intensive topics about Hum Darshan, in which we live with beautiful scenes, performances and constant command of the crisp story. Fortune vision speaks through a confident hand as he has done many times before.” The variety was also impressed, and was awarded the film A Critic Pick in January after the Palm Springs Film Festival premiere.
In the documentary side, director-producer Kim A. Snider’s “The Librarian” took the best documentary award. Snyder, an Academy Award nomination is nominated for “death to death”, a compelling true story of Veer Librarian, who banned the book and highlight the truth. The “height investigation” from the director-producer Sam Feder was provided a special jury mention, focusing on the civil rights lawyer Chase Stranger who advocates trans rights.
This year, Fest introduced a new category, best homegron, which is awarded films made in the Arkansas region. The Best Homegron Feature Award was presented from writer-director Christian Svegal to “Sovereign”. The film stars Nick Offman, Dennis Quad, Martha Plimpton and Jacob Trampble. It follows a father and son in an extremist group who is facing the police. A special jury mention (Homegron) was given a drawback of “Beyond the Ashes: N Adaptive Trail Story” from directors-producing Brock Wagner and Tim Johnson, which is a drawback regarding the trailblazer, a trail development organization.
Other awards presented included the best episodic for a 16 -year -old Latin American Punk Rocker for a pilot “Born 2 Loose” from director Carlos Cardona. The Best Short Film Award “Lowin” was given to him, showing the struggle of a trans woman’s life. An animated short “View from the Floor” from the directors Megan Griffiths and Mindy Lind was also mentioned special jury, and modern-day “tender-minded” from director Anni Ginel Ligate.
Bentanville Film Festival shut down on 16 June and showed 28 competition films, including nine world premiere. It was presented by BFFoundation, a non-profit that focused on promoting the underpared voices of various storytellers. IT media and Davis are partners with Gina Davis Institute on the penis and have a continuous appearance throughout the celebration.
