Indo-Australian Film Cooperation “My melbourne“Staring for its second installment, bringing together another stellar lineup of Indian filmmakers to continue the mission of cultural bridge-building project through cinema.
After the release of “Mai Melbourne” before March 2025 – which includes segments directed by Reema Das, Onir, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan – Mind Blowing Films revealed that Rajkumar Hirani, Anjali MenonShoojit Sircar, and Helmer Oner returning will direct the upcoming second chapter.
The original “Mai Melbourne” Anthology film settled on topics of identity, gender, race, sexuality and disability, earning critical appreciation in India and Australia.
“My Melbourne ‘has been heavily and deep,” said Mitu Bhomik Lang, CEO of The Creative Force behind Mind Blowing Films and Project. “It has proved that stories stated with authenticity and heart can cross borders. We honor some of the most acclaimed filmmakers of Indian cinema to provide their voice and vision in the second edition. The project remains a celebration of inclusive, cooperation and creativity between India and Australia.
The new director roster brings some socially aware voices of Indian cinema together. Filmmaker, behind the cute hit like Hirani, “Munna Bhai” series and “3 Idiots”, expressed enthusiasm for the cross-cultural storytelling opportunity.
“I really get excited to be a part of a project that uses cinema to detect diverse human experiences while adding two vibrant cultures,” Hirani said. ” My Melbourne ‘offers a rare opportunity to tell a story that is intimate, universally and culturally echoed. “
Menon, known for his fine depiction of family dynamics and relationships, contains “Bangalore Days” and “Gud”, sees the project as an alliance with its storytelling sensations. He said, “The theme and intention behind ‘My Melbourne’ align deeply with the kind of stories that I like to tell – those who build sympathy and bring people closer,” he said. “I am thrilled to cooperate on this journey of storytelling in continents.”
Sirkar, whose filmography includes socially conscious works such as “Pink” and “Piku”, emphasized the universal nature of local storytelling. “There is no limit to storytelling,” he said. ” Mai Melbourne ‘is a meaningful initiative that reminds us how the stories inherent in local contexts can have global significance.
