In a major boon for enthusiastic and physical media collectors towards action film, Shout! Studios Hong Kong Cinema is launching a new entertainment label dedicated to restore classics.
Hong Kong Cinema Classics Line will open a treasure of Hong Kong Cinematic Masterpiece, starting with a digital 4K release in June before expanding into a certain-culture physical media.
This step comes behind shouting! Studios Powers to rights around the world (Except selected Asian regions) to the prestigious Golden Princess Movie Library.
Digital rollout begins on June 24, while the first physical release of the label will be “The” jet Li The collection, “A 10-Disk 4K UHD + Blue-Ray Box Set arrives at 29 July. Hong Kong Cinema Classics Initiative focuses on the impressive Hong Kong action films of the ’80 and ’90s, which is a period famous for exciting action choreography, specific visual styles and emotional story stories. Many of these titles have been inactive and out-of-prints outside Asia for decades.
For this new line, shout! The studio has restored several titles in collaboration with Hong Kong Film Archives, which scans them in 4K from the original camera negative with restored videos and audio, as well as new translated subtitles.
John Wu’s “Hard Boyal” (starred) Chou Yun-Vas And Tony Leung Chiu-Y) and Ringo Lam’s “City on Fire” (Chow Yun-Vott, Sun John, and Danny Lee) will start a digital rollout on 24 June. On July 8, with John Wu’s “A Better Tumoro” trillion, followed by Tsui Hark’s “Peking Opra” and John Wu’s “The Jewes” and John Wu’s “Chinese Ghost Story” Try on August 5 and “Bullet in the Head” on August 5.
On the physical media front, the “The Jet Lee Collection” box set is launched on 29 July, followed by Ringo Lam’s “City on Fire” and Tsui Hark’s “Peking Opera Blues” on 23 September, both as 4K UHD + Blu-Ray Combbo Pack. The series will be counted for collectors, including HKCC #1-5, five Jet Lee films nominated as HKCC #6 as “City on Fire” and “Peking Opera Blues” as HKCC #7.
Shout! The studio plans to continue Hong Kong Cinema Classics in both digital and physical formats beyond these early offerings.
